One of the best ways to learn about
a business before you launch your own is by finding out
how others have done it. These case studies are inspiring
and will give you some essential information. We also wanted
to chronicle cases that were not successful but could not
find suitable examples, although there certainly would be
some.
Of the five cases we present here, two are stores built
around direct-to-garment printers, two are home-based businesses,
and one has just moved from home-based to a commercial space.
They are owned and managed by men and women of varying age
groups and from all walks of life. They are located in big
cities, suburbs and small rural towns. The common traits
among these business owners are intelligence, curiosity,
a thirst for newer and better things, and no fear of facing
new challenges. Although none except one can be classified
as tech-savvy, they all seem to appreciate the potential
that new digital technology brings to this age-old industry.
Here are their stories.
